| The YSU Help Desk wants you to know that... | |
![]() | CUE-mail utilization is increasing among YSU Faculty, Students and Staff. CUE-mail is a free, name-based e-mail system for which accounts are automatically created and there is no need to apply for account renewal as long as you are in current status. Its based upon a common electronic directory for YSU. YSU is on CUE - are you? |
![]() | If you use Macintosh computers but keep a Windows PC around to run Windows-only programs you might be able to consolidate with Virtual PC for Macintosh. VPC, as it is known, permits running standard Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP or Linux or DOS operating systems under Mac OS 9 or OS X. Thus, if your need is mostly Mac, a properly configured Macintosh with VPC can run most DOS, Windows and Linux programs as well as Macintosh and now many Unix programs under Mac OS X. Call the Help Desk (1595) to learn more. |
| Microsoft Software Licensing Program at YSU, CUE-mail, etc. | |
![]() | The software licensing agreement signed between YSU and Microsoft over 3 years ago is in its last year (it will expire 30 September 2003). Discussions and meetings have already begun relevant to how license requirements and software availablity will change under a new agreement. For this reason it is especially important to know how YSU is using software under the agreement. Be aware that copying of disks is not permitted and that appropriate documents and signout sheet entries for every copy distributed are required. Please address any questions or input to Michael Hrishenko, Manager of Reporting & Customer Support Services at mshrishenko@ysu.edu. |
![]() | Use of YSU's CUE-mail system continues to grow. As you've noticed, CUE-mail communications from the President's Office are sent frequently. Now, in an effort to further enhance the effectiveness of campus communications, the Office of the Vice President for Student affairs will be handling CUE-mail requests for mass e-mails to YSU students, the Provost's office will be coordinating mass e-mails to YSU faculty and the Office of the Vice President of Administration will be fielding mass e-mail requests to staff. Contact the appropriate office for your CUE-mail to a list request. The Office of the President will continue to provide direction regarding CUE-mailings that affect more than one of these groups (student, faculty or staff). |
![]() | Once a month, computer and technology specialists at YSU meet to discuss technology issues. If you have a concern or suggestion regarding topics of discussion for this group, please e-mail the Technology Services Committee Chairperson. |
