  What do I need to do to remotely access YSU systems from home?

In order to access certain systems at YSU you must be connected to the YSU network. If you are at a remote location and need to connect to the YSU network and access one of these systems, please refer to the link below to run YSU's Virtual Private Network (VPN) software.

  What can I do to help reduce the possibility of getting a computer virus?

It is important that an Anti Virus program is installed, running, and current with software version, updates, and signature files. It is also critical to keep your Windows operating system current with service packs and the latest security patches and/or updates. Only click on attachments and web sites that you know are "trusted sources". Installing an anti-spyware program like Malware Bytes is also a good way to detect malicious programs that get installed on your PC without your knowledge.

Download and install the latest Service Packs and updates. Ensure that your anti-virus program is installed and current with updates. We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials for student PC's.
